Volunteer & Internship Opportunities

Support the exciting team at Latino Health Access where our mission is to improve the quality of life and health of uninsured, under-served people through quality preventive services and educational programs emphasizing responsibility and full participation in decisions affecting health.

Volunteer & Internship Opportunities Children & Youth Initiative

  • Assist teachers in classes for children ages 5-16 years old.
  • Knowledge and/or interest in Child Development; experience working with children; knowledgeable in health and nutrition; enjoys physical activity, is creative and takes initiative; be a role model to our children!
  • 8-10 hours per week.
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) speakers preferred.

Diabetes Self Management Class

  • Assist Promotores in teaching the Diabetes Self-Management class.
  • Knowledge of diabetes and related health complications and desire to work with Latino adult population affected by the disease.
  • 4-5 hours per week.
  • Spanish speakers preferred.

Healthy Weight Peso Saludable

  • Assist Promotoras in teaching nutrition and exercise classes to children with overweight and/or obesity, and their parents.
  • Knowledge and/or interest in Child Development; experience working with children; knowledgeable in health and nutrition; enjoys physical activity, is creative and takes initiative; be a role model to our children!
  • 8-10 hours per week
  • Bilingual (English-Spanish) speakers preferred.

Fund Development Intern/Volunteer

  • Assist Grants & Contracts Coordinator
  • Research funding sources and opportunities; become familiar with and utilize Foundation Directory website
  • Assist in writing proposals to a variety of organizations, government and private, and generate supporting
    documents/attachments in response to solicitations
  • Maintain hard copy grant files of awarded, pending and denied grants and contracts
  • Assist with special fund development events and projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • Must be highly organized
  • Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of research methodology and be able to effectively interpret and present research data
  • Must have experience with and knowledge of computer operation (Microsoft Office Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Previous experience is preferred, but not required
  • Bilingual preferred (Spanish and English)
